Mission

Our mission is practical help rooted in gospel hope.

The ECDR Ministry is dedicated to serving those in need when disaster strikes. In Ellis County and beyond, volunteers step in with trained hands, steady presence, and the desire to care for people spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

What We Do

Box Ministry

ECDR volunteers distribute cardboard boxes when disaster forces homeowners to pack and move, often alongside Messages of Hope wrapping paper, packing tape, and Bibles.

Shower & Laundry Services

ECDR volunteers provide shower and laundry services for deployed volunteers and, at times, for public use during recovery efforts.

Chainsaw Ministry

ECDR volunteers provide chainsaw expertise and equipment during disasters and for local community service needs.

Fire & Flood Ministry

ECDR volunteers provide fire and flood recovery support and the equipment needed to help families begin rebuilding.

Chaplaincy

ECDR volunteers provide chaplains to comfort people facing disaster, loss, and tragedy with prayer and steady care.

Tent Mission

ECDR volunteers provide a 40’ x 60’ tent, plus tables and chairs, for church and community functions.

Assessors

ECDR volunteers assess damaged property so the work is understood and prepared before recovery begins.

Mass & Volunteer Feeding

In partnership with Texans On Mission, ECDR helps support mass feeding and volunteer feeding during disaster response.

Asset Protection

Additional Texans On Mission support includes monitoring equipment and helping provide for volunteer safety on site.

Texas Flood Response

ECDR Deploying to Kerrville for Flood Response

July 26–August 1, 2026

Texans on Mission has asked Ellis Christian Disaster Relief’s Fire & Flood Ministry to deploy to Kerrville in response to the extensive flooding across Texas. Many Ellis County residents have generously donated gift cards for those directly affected, and our volunteers and chaplain will personally distribute them to families we minister to in Kerrville. We are deeply grateful for every gift and for the volunteers sacrificing their time and energy to serve the Lord by serving others. Please pray for the restoration of homes and, even more importantly, for spiritual renewal in Kerrville and the other Texas communities affected by this disaster.

Volunteer

Train before the call comes.

ECDR serves locally and in partnership with Texans On Mission. Volunteers prepare in advance so they are ready to respond with care, accountability, and practical skill when disaster strikes.

  1. Complete Texans on Mission orientation online or in person.
  2. Earn the Disaster Relief Badge for Texans on Mission callouts.
  3. Pass a background check before serving in approved deployments.
  4. Add specialty training for field roles such as chainsaw work, shower and laundry support, or flood recovery.
